This is an article written by Roger. K. Allen which talks about the cultural transition within an organization and how effective results can be achieved. Before we delve further into the above topic, let us take a look at the meaning and definition of organization design, and also the overview and purpose of design. Organization Design is a strategically guided activity to integrate people, processes and technology of an organization, which is used to match the compatibility of the organization with the purpose that the organization is seeking to achieve (Autry, 1996).

It is through the design process that organizations act upon in order to improvise on the collective probability of efforts taken by members will be successful. The author brings into focus as to how organizations need to change and thrive in the new world order where cultural shifts have take place over a period of time, that herald with it- contemporary business dynamics in a changing economic scenario.

To support his views and opinions, he brings forth a few industry examples that he was involved during his professional stint, which is very well supported by a business framework called the ‘Transformation model’ for organizational re-design and consists of 7 different variables for organizational success i. e. , environment, strategy, core process, structure, systems, culture, and results. The author has explained the above topic in a logical sequence of facts which gently lead into a discussion on the ‘re-design approach’ which comprises of a 3 phased strategy.

Warren; Iansiti, Marco, 2006) which discusses a few case studies in innovation and organization design, which would would very well go forward in supporting the views and opinions expressed by Roger.
