Research task Criteria one It is very important to plan to meet the care and learning needs of children 0-5 years the main care needs for babies are providing healthy food/bottles throughout the day. Always maintaining hygiene making sleeping routines, sharing information with parents and receiving information from parents, creating a bond with the baby making them feel safe and secure in their environment, creating a safe environment by following health and safety policies, always risk assessing the room before the babies are due to arrive into the room.
Set feeding/bottle times. Making stimulating activities for the babies helping them to meet their milestones and developing as hey grow It is important to meet the care and learning needs for children their main care and learning needs are maintaining hygiene showing them how to wash their hands properly before and after meals and after they go to the toilet. Planning sleep/rest routines, bonding with the children making them feel safe in their environment, set feeding time’s breakfast, lunch and a snack before they go home.
Making set times and days for one on one sessions with each child, setting out daily routines for each day that child is in to help them feel organised and settled while in the setting. Making the children feel safe when in the setting by always carrying out risk assessments inside and out before they enter the space. Learning needs for babies are identifying where they are up to with age and stage and what milestones they have achieved and what ones they need help to achieve so that you can set up plans and activities around those milestones.
Identifying children with special needs and what help they need and to then set out activities and tasks to help them succeed and reach their milestones. Bringing in outside agencies to help with their needs and helping them to feel that they are doing well and not putting them down also sharing information with parents always listening to them and what they have to say because they have a big role to play in helping them achieve their milestones and doing some work at home.
Research task Criteria 2 The EYFS requires practitioners to plan activities and play opportunities that will support children’s learning. Looking at children’s interests is a great way of helping them learn, all children have interests all you have to do is find out what they are and get toys and other resources and then plan around them.
Working out what children enjoy is important when planning for them as there is a statutory requirement for us to make their learning and development experience challenging and enjoyable. Asking parents and children what they did over the weekend is a great way of finding out each child’s interests and making plans around that topic. Observations and assessments can be included in finding children’s interests this is an important part of the EYFS.
Key workers play a big part in finding each child’s interests by observing and assessing those spending lots of time and always talking to the child, observations can really help with new ideas to carry on a topic and make more advances with the child while sticking with the topic that they enjoy and is relevant and new to them. Parents play a massive role in finding out and telling us the children’s likes and dislikes they have much more time and knowledge with and of the child they have books to write down what they do with the child out side the setting and they can then share their ideas and plans with the staff.
